Haldi/Turmeric

  • Immunity: Boil ½ a teaspoon of turmeric powder with a pinch of black pepper in a glass of milk. Drink it at bedtime. Helps to boost your immunity and reduces chances of catching seasonal flu. This milk also speeds up the healing process of fractures and wounds.
  • Dietary: Make turmeric a part of diet by using it in curries, soups, cooked vegetables, and other dishes.
  • Cough: Roast turmeric and give its 1-2 gm powder with ½ a teaspoon of honey, 2-3 times a day OR Boil 1 cup milk with ½ teaspoon turmeric and ¼ teaspoon ginger. Drink this milk at night to relieve dry cough and any irritation in the throat.
  • Cold: Put a teaspoon of turmeric powder over a hot pan and inhale the fumes. Helps to improve cold and inflammation of upper respiratory tract.
  • Skin glow: Make a face pack of besan (gram flour) along with haldi powder and milk. You may even add some drops of rose water. Turmeric’s antiseptic, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties, along with goodness of other ingredients helps brighten the skin and reduce uneven skin tone.
    P.S: Do a patch test before applying all over the face.
  • Dark circles: Take equal quantity of turmeric powder and sandalwood powder and make a paste in milk. Apply this on dark circles in the morning. Wash off when it dries up. This paste is also helpful in reducing any redness, swelling or inflammation.
